NYC Tri-Institutional TB Research Advancement Center (NYC TRAC)

Basic Science Support

The role of the Basic Science Core is to provide new investigators, new to TB investigators and other TRAC investigators access to technical expertise and resources to foster innovative multidisciplinary TB research. The Basic Science Core provides a structured mechanism for senior TB investigators at the three institutions to share expertise and technology.

  • The Core faculty provides mentorship in basic science TB research to new investigators. Technical experts from the faculty’s labs with hands-on experience in basic science TB research methods (mycobacterial genetics, human genetics, metabolomics, CRISPR) will serve as advisors to new investigators, new to TB investigators and other investigators initiating multidisciplinary studies.
  • Technology resources unique to TB and not available in traditional core laboratories will be made available (TB animal models, mycobacterial drug discovery platforms, mass spectrometers for use on Mtb extracts, etc).
